Handcrafted Pottery & Stained Glass

Pottery is timeless.  It has been found in the pyramids of ancient Egypt and the remains of the Mayan Civilization!  It reflects what people did, what they treasured, and even how they adorned themselves.

What story will our pottery tell about 2020 a hundred or even 200 years from now?  We hope our mugs will tell that the masks we have worn, made and shared were made not only for safety, but they were also an act of love for others.

For every 2020 Mask Mug sold, a $10 donation is being made to local non-profits in Winston Salem.

As of November 15th, 2020, over $1000 of your mug purchases have been donated to nonprofits serving our community and state:  Crisis Control, Samaritan Ministries of Forsyth County, Potter's House Resource Center, Winston Salem Street School, Joy Ranch, Samaritan's Purse.  Thank you so much!

About Us

Ron and Robin Embry

Goose Creek Pottery

We are Ron and Robin Embry and are Goose Creek Pottery.  Our studio is in our home in downtown Winston Salem.  We love to make pottery, but to support our "addiction" we also sell our work.

Neither of us studied fine art in our younger years.  We actually met while taking pottery classes at the Sawtooth School for Visual Art.

What started out as a fun hobby developed into a second income and finally into a full time endeavor. ( Ron worked with the United States Postal Service and Robin worked in Neuro-Rehabilitation).

Both Ron and Robin teach pottery at the Sawtooth School for Visual Art (SSVA).  Ron has been a regular ceramics instructor at the SSVA since 2004.  Robin has taught special ceramics classes for individuals with neurological impairments (stroke, traumatic brain injury, etc.) intermittently over the past 18 years.

Ron and Robin have jointly taught ceramics at the Industries for the Blind and with the Adaptables, Inc for individuals who were deaf.  In 2012 and 2014, they were invited to France to teach pottery at a special camp that provided intensive support and care for restoration of cross-cultural workers and their families who were suffering exhaustion, depletion, depression, burnout or other crisis as a result of ministry.

In years past, Goose Creek Pottery has sold their work at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds Farmers Market in Winston Salem, NC or the Sandy Ridge Farmers Market in Colfax, North Carolina.  They hold one annual home sale with a small group of friends that is a favorite event among many patrons in Winston Salem.

In the past two years, Robin has focused some of her energy working with stained glass.  We are excited about the potential of incorporating pottery and stained glass into mixed media artwork in the future.

Like so many artists in the US and around the world, 2020 has been filled with challenges.  Covid-19 has forced us to look at alternative means to sell our wares, but it has also challenged us to look at other ways we can help in our community.  We are committed to using  from our work to support agencies and individuals who are in need.
